Special Edition January Newsletter
The New Year has
burst upon us with unbelievable events that will impact generations to come.
The moral, political, environmental, and economical trends today offer no
little challenge for God’s Church. These and many more sweeping changes are
occurring in such rapid succession that one wonder’s if the Church will stand
and meet them? It seems as if Satan is unloosing all the ‘stops’ in an effort
to bring as much grief to God’s heart as possible. These unusually desperate challenges
call for the Church to be unusually bold and perceptive. Now is the time for the Church focus on those
matters that are on God’s heart, pray for His strategy, unite with the Church
at large, and strategically implement God’s redemptive plan into culture.
This month’s NEMA
Newsletter is featuring an historical event that will take place in a few days
in Houston, Texas, i.e., January 17-18. Thousands of individual Christians and
Christian organizations from all over the nation and world will be converging
in protest of the world’s second largest abortion clinic on earth. Also
included in this month’s newsletter is an amazing testimony of a woman whose
mother was scheduled to abort her. I believe that this article is a wakeup call
for all Pastors in America.
The NEMA Council
encourages you to share this information to your church members and ministry
volunteers. When our children and
grandchildren reflect upon these historic times and ask us what action we took
to stop the killing of the innocent we can tell them that we joined thousands
who prayed and stood and protested. We stood so the world would know that every
man has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
MARK THESE TWO HISTORICAL DATES: JANUARY 17-18
The
Second largest abortion clinic in the world is being built at this present
moment in Houston, Texas. This six-story Planned Parenthood abortion “super
center” is right in the middle of four (4) “super neighborhoods.” Three average
to 85% Latino in population and the other is 85% African American. Planned
Parenthood is targeting these minority pro-family communities, both for their
finances and the restriction of their populations. But, there is a voice rising
out of Houston and out of Texas, declaring, “We don’t want this death camp
specializing in late-term abortions in our neighborhoods!”
On Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday, January
18th, 2010, thousands are gathering to march against this Goliath to
pray, fast, and peacefully siege this massive injustice in the spirit of
that great liberator Martin Luther King Jr. Key African American, Latino,
and political leaders are coming to speak and hold a nationwide press
conference challenging this “super center.” This is a great hour for the
Hispanic pro-LIFE people, Catholic and Evangelical, to raise their voices
against abortion and for adoption. Public opinion over abortion is shifting
radically in America to pro-LIFE at the same time this facility is exalting
itself above the humble and oppressed.
We are entering into the 37th anniversary of the “Roe V. Wade” abortion decree
of 1973 on January 22, 2010. We are in a ’73/’37 window to reverse that decree.
It started in Texas, now let it begin to reverse there. We are calling for the
pro-LIFE people of Houston, Texas, and America to gather Sunday night, January 17th, 2010 for four (4) hours of prayer
for spiritual awakening and justice, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm at Grace
Community Church. On this evening, 1/17, we will be
unifying with one voice before God to pray for the Luke 1:17 answer to the
killing of our babies and the wounding of our women – “And he will also go
before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the
fathers to the children and the rebellious to the wisdom of the just, to
make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
On January 18th, at
9:00am on
Martin Luther King Jr.’s holiday, we will gather by the thousands to launch
a silent prayer march through the streets to the abortion “super center” for
the nationwide press conference and prayer stand. As Martin Luther
King Jr. would proclaim it – It is time to “subpoena the conscience” of the
nation from the flashpoint of Houston, Texas. Maybe Houston could become
the Birmingham of our day to let the unborn go free and spare the pregnant
mother the agony of guilt. Maybe out of Houston a great demonstration of
compassion could be launched through pregnant mother care with a mass movement
of adoption. Martin Luther King Jr. cried, “I have a dream”. Alveda King, the
niece of Martin Luther King Jr., has eloquently stated, “How can the dream live
as long as we kill our children?” God has a dream. He has a dream for America
and He has a dream for every mother and every child and a six-story massive
abortion facility has never been a part of that dream. Lets end the nightmare
and let the dream live.

Houston We Have A Problem
The
second largest abortion facility in the world, next to China, is being built at
this present moment in Houston, Texas.
This six-story, 78,000 square foot Planned Parenthood abortion “Super Center”
is right in the middle of four minority neighborhoods. Three of these
neighborhoods have an average 85% Hispanic population and the fourth is 80%
Black American. The third floor is being specially built as a ambulatory
surgical center for the purpose of performing late-term abortions. Obviously,
Planned Parenthood is targeting these minority communities and families to fuel
their abortion industry like never before. The opening of this facility MUST
NOT go unchallenged
A New Trend
In
recent years, Planned Parenthood has aggressively shifted away from the small
neighborhood-sized clinic approach in favor of consolidating into massive
regional facilities. Currently there are seven locations that have become their
focus for developing abortion “Super Centers.”
In
2007, it was exposed in national news that Planned Parenthood had been secretly
building their first “Super Center” in Aurora, IL using fictitious business
aliases to conceal their agenda. Everyone was shocked to learn that the new
facility was 22,000 square feet. The second one opened the following year in
Denver, CO also concealed behind deceptive business aliases. That one was
40,000 square feet. The third opened in Sarasota, FL in September of 2009
measuring in at 23,000 square feet.
The
fourth “Super Center” in this tragic series is located in Houston, TX.
Currently scheduled to open in the Fall
of 2010, this massive 78,000 square
foot abortion facility will be the second largest in the world–second only
to China.
The Original Charter
Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, had a
perverse dream for minorities. In her book Pivot of Civilization,
Sanger referred to blacks, immigrants
and indigents as “...human weeds,” “reckless breeders,” “spawning...human
beings who never should have been born.” Sanger’s original charter and agenda
has been cleverly concealed in the modern day, but Planned Parenthood’s intent
remains clear. Minority families are being targeted both for their dire
economic situations and the desire by Planned Parenthood to restrict their
populations.
A
young Hispanic woman in Texas recently visited a local Planned Parenthood and
was asked to complete a questionnaire of age, race and income level.
“I
was then told by the Planned Parenthood employee that based on the information
they obtained by the questionnaire I was quote ‘a perfect candidate not to
reproduce.’” The employee then added, “Do not worry. We will help you never
have any children.”
This
is appalling in every conceivable way. However, there is a voice rising out of
Houston and out of Texas declaring, “God
give us the life of the unborn. Restrain this abortion ‘Super Center’ from
rising in the neighborhoods of our brothers and sisters! Raise up a
compassionate response to the great need!”
Dangerous Demographics
Black
women, who represent only 12% of the female population in America, suffer 36%
of all abortions. Latina women represent 13% of the female population but
suffer another 20% of all abortions. Together,
they suffer 56% of all abortions yet they represent only 25% of our nation’s
population.
When
it comes to Planned Parenthood, two out
of every three of their abortion facilities are located in Black American
neighborhoods. Factor in that they are now targeting growing Hispanic families,
and that number shoots up to 76%. We
can no longer ignore the fact that Planned Parenthood disproportionately
targets minority communities.
This
new “Super Center” being built in Houston, TX is no different. It is
strategically positioned right in the center of four minority neighborhoods.
One is 80% Black American and the other three average an 85% Hispanic
population.
In
addition, Planned Parenthood will be poised to cash in on a convenient student
body with the University of Houston and Texas Southern University merely blocks
away.
Show Me The Money
Recently,
a Director for Planned Parenthood of Houston & Southeast Texas had a
startling revelation. Abby Johnson was asked to assist in a rare
ultrasound-guided abortion procedure. Asked to hold the ultrasound probe on a
woman’s belly for the doctor, she watched on the screen as the abortion tool
was inserted into the woman’s uterus. Abby was unexpectedly shocked to see the
12-week old baby “moving and trying to
get away from the instrument.” In a “flash,”
she experienced a complete change of heart and mind, and she knew that she was
witnessing LIFE being destroyed. It was a baby, and it was ALIVE. Her heart
sank as she watched in horror as the baby’s body “crumbled” in an instant.
This
change of heart threw all of Planned Parenthood’s activities into question for
her even though she was the Director of one of their facilities. She has since
resigned her job with Planned Parenthood and is becoming a powerful voice for
the unborn.
Abby
Johnson said, “One of their goals was to
make money, and the way they make money is to increase the number of
abortions.” Abby went on to explain that women’s health care is secondary
to the profitability of increasing the number of abortions performed. When the
economy took a downward turn impacting her business, Abby was instructed by her
superiors to “get more
abortions in the door” in order
to compensate for the financial loss. This gruesome business model must be
exposed. Planned Parenthood’s sentiments about women’s health are disingenuous
at best.
When
Barbara Walters recently discussed this story on The View, even liberal host
Joy Behar declared, “That’s really gross.
The idea that they’re making money at it. It’s just obnoxious.” Co-host
Sherri Shepherd, a Black American woman, agreed. Adding from her own personal
experience of seeking an abortion at age 17, Sherri said that she was pressured
by Planned Parenthood to just get the abortion and was not given any
alternatives. (see video)
The
bottom line for Planned Parenthood is simple: More abortions equal more money.
The Next Wave
It’s
time for all of us to take our stand with the families of these minority
communities. It’s time for the abortion
issue to become a justice issue. Well known author and pastor, John Piper,
recently wrote on his Twitter a statement that is both profound and prophetic
in its clarity concerning the ending of abortion:
“Wave
1: Catholics say NO to abortion. Wave 2: Evangelicals flood the land with
CPC's. Wave 3: Blacks & Latinos bring it down.”
It
is time for our America’s minority peoples to lead this nation with the voice
of justice and family values. Let those
who have been targeted for death become the prophets for LIFE.
Who
knows? Houston could become the Birmingham of our day to let the unborn go free
and spare the pregnant mother the agony of post-abortion physical and spiritual
trauma. Out of Houston a great demonstration of compassion could be launched
through pregnant mother care with a mass movement of adoption. Out of Houston
the voice of our minority peoples could begin to proclaim to the nation their
stand for life.
Jeremiah
1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the
womb I knew you.” Clearly, for every child God has a dream. Martin Luther
King, Jr. cried, “I have a dream!”
His niece Alveda King has prophetically stated, “How can the dream live as long as we kill our children?” God also
has a dream for America, and a massive six-story abortion facility has never
been a part of that dream. Let the nightmare end, and let the dream live.

As an
African American woman, abortion survivor and general lover of mankind, I have
to say that I am outraged over what is happening in Houston, TX right now. Even
now as I write this the 2nd largest abortion facility in the world is being
constructed in our nation. This is atrocious beyond words. What's particularly
grievous to me is the fact that this death-center is being built right in the
middle of 4 minority neighborhoods. Three of these neighborhoods have an
average 85% Hispanic population and the fourth is 80% Black American. Planned
Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger's agenda from the start of her
organization, was to use birth control and abortion to bring about black
genocide. Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion movement of this day are not
even attempting to hide their plans when it comes to sticking this center in
the midst of minority neighborhoods. They likely don't have to hide them
because they know we are not concerned. We are used to their tactics, and as a
whole we are not too interested in challenging them. For most Americans, and
most Christians, abortion has become normal to us. We have accepted it, we are
familiar with it, and we don't believe it will ever truly end. This is
upsetting to me. I want to challenge that way of thinking. We need to understand
that abortion is more than a so-called women's right issue, or a matter of
choice, like it is projected to be. The abortion movement in America has been
and still is fueled by greed and racism. From it's infancy there has been a
wicked plan behind it to wipe out Black Americans and those who are seen as
undesirable. By our lack of knowledge and concern many in Black America have
bought into this plan and gone right along with it, believing it is for our
benefit.
This is the hour for Black America to rise up and take a stand for life!
We have been ignorant about this issue for too long. We have been complacent
for far too many years. Right now there are cities in America that have more
black babies dying yearly than even being born. We can't afford apathy any
longer. I know that it's hard. It's hard to believe that this is really
happening. It's hard to wrap our minds around the reality that millions upon
millions of our children have died in the womb. It's like a horrible car
accident that we pass on the road and can't bear to look at. But I am pleading
with you- we have to look at this! We have to look at it square in the face. We
have to take the blinders off our eyes, open our ears and take a good, hard
look at reality. If we were an animal we would be in danger of extinction. This
is the sad but true and urgent, reality.
An African American friend of mine said something once that struck me to the
core. He said " In the African-American community we value education,
position, status. We are pursuing so many things to give us identity and worth
as a people. We have been oppressed and downcast for so long, so we tell our
children..." If you get a good education, if you get a good job, then you
can overcome, you can make a better world for yourself". While education
and jobs are important, there is something more important, it is our lives. Our
very lives as a people, our very existence as a race is at stake. Is that even
a priority for us, it is even on our radar that we are dying as a people group?
If it's not, we need to reevaluate our priorities.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, " We've been on this mountain for
too long". It's been almost 40 years in America that we have had legalized
abortion- legalized, government approved slaughter of our sons and daughters.
It is time for a change. Black brothers
and sisters, I believe from the depths of my heart that this change can and
will began with us. But it won't just happen. Change doesn't just happen,
automatically. Someone has to do something, someone has to say something, and
someone has to make it happen. Will we make it happen? Will we do our part in
challenging this decree of death in our land? Will we rise up and take a stand,
no matter what it costs? If our friends don't understand, if our parents think
we’re strange, if our bosses and our co-workers think we've lost our mind will
we remain steadfast? In spite of all that, will we stand? Will we give of our
time, money, resources or whatever it takes to see this thing end?
In the days of old there were abolitionists who gave everything to see men set
free from the chains and bondage of slavery. Their houses were burned down,
their children were killed, and their money was drained in pursuit of a dream.
They dreamed that slavery could end and men and women could be free. They gave
everything to see that dream come to pass. I have to say as a Black woman that
there is a greater evil than slavery in our day. That evil is abortion. Slavery
was a sore on our nation's history. It was despicable. But for all that it was,
the slaves still lived. They lived, and though it was hard, so many of them
loved God and had a painful but still a worthwhile existence. Abortion kills a
child before it breathes its first breath. It is far more evil than slavery. If
these men and women gave their all to a lesser evil in their day, what will we
give in fighting this great evil in our day? What will history say of us as a
people when we stand and condemn our white brothers and sisters for enslaving
us but we are killing our own children and we don't care? What will we say when
we stand before the God of heaven and earth. 21st century believers, who have
written articles, watched documentaries and stood in such opposition against
slavery. Yet stand silent now against abortion. We see the faces of the slaves
that have gone before us, we look at pictures and we see the scars on their
backs and the pain in their brows. We can't see the faces of the millions of
black children that we have killed in the last 37 years. We can't hear their
voices that cry out to us from the ground like the blood of Abel. We can't see
their faces, or hear their voices, but that doesn't mean their pain wasn't just
as real.
I plead with you, Black America. Hear my voice. I am an abortion survivor. I
was minutes away from being murdered but by the grace of God I survived. Listen
to me and know, this is not about money or politics, its about life. I should
have died, and I am alive. That is what this is all about. I am the dream of
God's heart. If I was aborted, his dreams would have been as well. 50 million
of his dreams have been aborted already in America. How can we afford to let
anymore of his dreams die? I refuse to let the dreams of my Father die any
longer! I can't do everything, but what I can do, I will. I will pray, cry,
write and speak until I see something shift in America. Until I see a massive
move among my people. Until I see the chains of death broken off of our wombs
and my people set free. Black America, we are no longer enslaved by white men,
but we will never be truly free until abortion is overturned in our land and
the nations of this earth. Our freedom will come at a cost. Are we willing as a
people, to pay it?
